Golf

Since its opening in 1924, Orinda Country Club has been considered one of the finest golf courses in Northern California.

Designed by William Watson during the “Golden Age” of golf course architecture in the 1920's, Orinda remains a classic Watson design following its renovation in 2015 by Todd Eckenrode, featuring wide and rolling fairways, relatively small greens with gentle contours, and beautiful bunkering – all set among historic oaks and sycamores that border the course.

Watson crafted an imaginative routing through what’s now known as the “Country Club” section of Orinda, starting with the tee shot on the par-four 1st hole, named “Inspiration” for its sweeping vistas of the surrounding hillsides. Orinda’s colorful hole names also include “Mousetrap”, “Despair”, “Meteor”, “Long Tom”, “Graveyard”, “Gibraltar” and “Cascade” – each name reflecting an interesting story from the course’s 100-year history.

Playing at approximately 6,400 yards and par 71 (par 74 for ladies), Orinda is known for its unparalleled variety of holes – no two holes are alike, and members and guests will find the course to be one of the most challenging and interesting of Northern California’s many classic-era designs. Orinda is committed to exceptional playing conditions year-round, and significant investments have been made by the Club to produce firm and consistent conditions from tee to green throughout the year. For members and guests, Orinda Country Club provides a wonderful golf experience for all levels of play.
