The eleventh hole, named Graveyard, is at the site of an old Indian burial ground discovered in 1924 when artifacts, including stone utensils, were unearthed during construction of the golf course. The Costanoan Indians, inhabitants of Contra Costa County from at least five thousand years ago until the early 1900s, disposed of food and buried their dead in what might today be called a dump.
